The library is probably the most underused wellbeing resource in the county. Membership is free, it takes a few minutes to join, and it opens up a great deal more than books.
This course goes branch by branch through what Meath County Council Library Service offers, so you can tell somebody specifically what is waiting for them locally.
What is covered
- Where the branches are, how to join, and what membership includes.
- What you can borrow besides books: musical instruments, home energy saving kits, STEAM activity sets and book club kits.
- Free digital services you can use from home, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, language courses and hundreds of online courses.
- Assistive technology and collections for additional needs, including the Toys, Training and Technology collection, reader pens and age friendly tablets.
- Sensory pods, sensory rooms and the Magic Table.
- Events and activities for adults, and for children, running right through the year.
What you will take away
A practical answer to “is there anything around here for…” Whether the person in front of you is a new parent, a teenager, somebody learning English, a carer, or a person who is simply at a loose end, there is usually something in this course that fits.
Please note
Services and events vary between branches, and the events programme changes through the year. Where something is only in certain locations, the course says so. Check with your local branch before sending somebody a long distance.
