Accessibility Statement

CommUnity Connect Louth and Meath is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities and people who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, speech recognition software and keyboard only navigation.

This statement explains the standard we work to, how accessible this website currently is, what we know still needs to be improved, and how to contact us if you meet a barrier.

Standards we aim to meet

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA. WCAG is published by the World Wide Web Consortium and is the internationally recognised standard for accessible web content. Level AA is the level referenced by European accessibility law through the harmonised standard EN 301 549.

Working to level AA means, among other things, that text can be resized and reflowed without loss of content, that images carry meaningful alternative text, that colour contrast is sufficient for text and interface controls, that every function can be operated using a keyboard alone, that form fields are clearly labelled and errors are explained in words, and that page structure uses correct headings and landmarks so it can be navigated with assistive technology.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially compliant means that most of the website meets the standard, but some content does not yet fully conform.

A review of this website against WCAG 2.2 level AA was completed on 23/09/2026, and the issues it found have been fixed. The content that does not yet fully conform is listed under Known limitations below.

Known limitations

The following limitations remain after our review:

  • PDF documents, including those supplied by partner organisations, have not yet been checked and may not be tagged correctly for use with a screen reader.
  • Some embedded videos are hosted on YouTube by other organisations and may not have accurate captions or a transcript.
  • Embedded Google Maps have limited support for keyboard-only use. The address of each venue is also given as text on the same page.

We will update this list as these items are checked. If you need information from this website in an alternative format, such as large print, plain text, audio or an accessible document, please contact us and we will do our best to provide it.

Our approach to accessibility

We treat accessibility as part of how this website is built and maintained rather than a one off exercise. Our commitments are to:

  • Review the website against WCAG 2.2 level AA using both automated tools and manual testing, including keyboard only navigation and screen reader testing.
  • Fix the issues we find, starting with anything that prevents someone from completing a task.
  • Check alternative text, heading structure, link text, form labels and colour contrast when we add or change content.
  • Ask partner organisations to supply accessible versions of documents and listings before we publish them.
  • Retest after any significant change to the site.

Content provided by others

Parts of this website rely on content and services provided by other organisations, including embedded maps, video players, social media feeds, and listings submitted by community groups and service providers. We do not control the accessibility of that content.

Where we find a barrier in content provided by someone else, we raise it with them and, where we can, offer the same information in an accessible form on this website.

Giving us feedback

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you meet a barrier, need content in an alternative format, or believe this website is not meeting the accessibility requirements, please tell us. Email addresses and phone numbers for the programme team are on our Contact page.

It helps if you can include the address of the page, a short description of the problem, and the browser and assistive technology you were using if you know them. That lets us find and fix the issue faster.

We will acknowledge your message and tell you what we intend to do about it.

If you are not satisfied with our response

If you are not satisfied with how we have dealt with your feedback, please tell us and we will escalate it for review within our organisation.

How this statement was prepared

This statement was prepared on 07/08/2026 and last updated on 23/09/2026.

It is based on a self-assessment: automated accessibility testing across the website, plus manual checks of keyboard access, visible focus, colour contrast and layout on mobile screens.

It is reviewed at least once a year, and whenever significant changes are made to the website.
