Start here. This is the foundation course for CommUnity Connect Louth and Meath Champions, and it is the one to take before the others.
Champions are everyday community members who want to make a positive difference. You do not need a qualification, a title, or any experience in mental health. What you need is a willingness to share good information with the people around you.
What is covered
- Healthy Meath and CommUnity Connect Louth and Meath: what they are, and why they exist.
- The 5 Ways to Wellbeing, the five simple actions at the heart of everything a Champion shares.
- The CCLM resources available to you, and the wider network of groups and Champions.
- The Champion role: what it includes, what it does not, and what to say when somebody needs more help than you can give.
- Turning it into something real, with a worked example of a small local activity from start to finish.
What you will take away
- Confidence to talk about mental health and wellbeing without feeling you need to be an expert.
- A clear sense of where your role stops, which matters as much as knowing where it starts.
- A simple planning method for a first activity in your own community.
The most important part
You are a connector, not a counsellor. You are helping people take the next step, not carrying it on your own. There are no targets and no reporting, and the course covers how to mind your own wellbeing while you do it.
