CommUnity Connect Louth & Meath Champions

Become a CommUnity Connect Louth & Meath Champion

A CommUnity Connect Louth & Meath Champion is someone who helps promote positive mental health and wellbeing in their local community using the 5 Ways to Wellbeing: Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning, and Give. Champions play an important role in helping their groups and neighbours feel supported, connected, and informed.

What Does a Champion Do?

Champions are everyday community members who want to make a positive difference. As a Champion, you will:

  • Share wellbeing information with your community in simple, practical ways.
  • Encourage people to get involved in local wellbeing activities and supports.
  • Help signpost people to useful local resources, services, and wellbeing maps.
  • Build connections between groups and services to strengthen local wellbeing efforts.
  • Represent your community, ensuring local needs and ideas are heard.

You don’t need to be an expert just someone who cares about your community and is willing to share information and encourage others.

What Training Will I Receive?

Champions receive specialised training to build skills and confidence. Training includes:

  • How to promote wellbeing through the Five Ways to Wellbeing.
  • How to share information and support people in an inclusive, friendly way.
  • How to link people with local supports, activities, and community groups.

The programme begins as a pilot, so Champions will also help shape and improve the training over time.

Who Can Become a Champion?

Anyone involved in a community group in Louth or Meath such as Men’s Sheds, Women’s Sheds, walking groups, youth groups, sports clubs, residents’ associations and more can put forward a member to become a Champion.

Champions are friendly, trusted people who want to help their communities stay connected and well.

Why Become a Champion?

By becoming a Champion, you will:

  • Help improve positive mental health and wellbeing in your area.
  • Bring new ideas and activities back to your group.
  • Become part of a wider network of groups across Louth and Meath.
  • Receive free resources, tools, and ongoing support.
